Does Insanity live up to the hype? Let’s find out, starting with how it works.
So, How Does Insanity Work?
With a name like Insanity, the workouts must be tough, right? Well, they are. Shaun T, creator, and trainer is the key motivator during the videos, cheering you on as you power through moves. The method used is max interval training. This requires one movement for three to five minutes consecutively followed by a few seconds of rest. Also included in the series are cardio intense and muscle-building sessions that are meant to combine for maximum results.
Confused Muscles? What’s That About?
In addition to shedding fat, Insanity builds and tones muscles. This is due to a method known a muscle confusion. This is a way to keep your body guessing what moves it will be doing. As a result, the muscles work out in different ways, keeping them from adapting to movements. Your body kicks up its power using stamina to keep all muscles building. The first key factors in the fat-burning, muscle-building series are the calendar. The method relies highly on the calendar which changes up weekly and monthly. To continue our insanity workout review, let’s break down the schedule.
A Look at the Insanity Calendar
The series of workouts that make up the 60-day Insanity program come with a schedule to follow. Firstly, the Insanity schedule gives you a fitness test which you’ll try every two weeks. This is meant to help keep track of your progress showing how many more reps you can do in the allotted time. Furthermore, each week, you’re asked to work out for six days with one day of rest. The workout sessions for the first month include:
- Plyometric Cardio Circuit
- Insanity Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs
- Cardio Recovery
- Cardio Power and Resistance
- Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Each week, you’re asked to do these workouts in different orders. To progress, this goes on for four weeks. The fifth week is considered recovery week, with Core Cardio and Balance for six days out of the week and take day number seven off. Next, the transition phase of the Insanity workout schedule takes it up a notch. Each week, there are six days of workouts and one full day of rest. The workout sessions for the second month include:
- MAX Cardio Conditioning
- MAX Interval Circuit
- MAX Interval Plyo
- MAX Recovery
- MAX Cardio & Cardio Abs
- Core Cardio & Balance
Insanity Results: What Can You Expect?
If you’ve checked out any insanity workout review, you’ve seen the results. It is said that the Insanity will totally transform your body in just 60 days. Each video session claims to burn 1000 calories in less than one hour.
On the first day, you’re given the task of a fitness test, counting the number of reps that you can make it through. As your progress, you’ll perform the fitness test again on weeks 3, 5, and 7.
In this way, you can track your progress, noticing how your body has increased in both strength and endurance.
What Can You Expect?
As far as the results in the mirror, the Insanity before and after is incredible. Many who stuck with the program and followed the Insanity workout review calendar were overall more fit. In addition, they were able to lose bulges in places like the stomach and arms. Apart from melting fat, most of those who took the challenge appeared more toned with shapely muscles. As far as performance, most Insanity workout review participants experienced better performance during cardio and strength training sports.
A Bit About Our Experience
In our experience, we could tell the difference between the first and second fitness tests. For one thing, we could do double the number of reps of each move. Additionally, we tired out less than the first time, with enough energy to finish. The second week doing the Pure Cardio Insanity workout, we powered through it.
That’s to say, we only stopped one time for a breather and continued until the end. As far as results, we noticed them the first week. We felt tighter in a number of places including the abs and arms. In terms of energy, we had a huge burst. For instance, our metabolism was on fire leaving us hungry for more fuel for the next workout. On the contrary, the only downside for us was the fact that some of the workouts were hard on the joints.
There are jumps and quick movements in each workout. It is not a workout for beginners and takes a bit of prior athleticism.
Insanity Diet Plans: How to Properly Fuel Your Body
We not only wanted to share our experience in this Insanity workout review but, take a look at ways to increase results. One of the most important factors in changing the body is calorie intake. To clarify, the food that we eat affects performance and the way that our body processes nutrients including fat, vitamins, and carbohydrates.
We need all of them in certain quantities to give us the fuel that we need to power through tough workouts.
What Should You Eat?
The Insanity workout burns a lot of calories each day. As a result, it boosts metabolism and we wind up feeling hungry. This hunger is great but, only if tamed by healthy foods. For example, a normal diet consists of about 2000 to 2500 calories daily. Anything over that will cause an abundance and lead to weight gain.
Conversely, eating under 2500 will cause weight loss. The point is, counting calories is boring and leaves our taste buds screaming for more. During our Insanity workout review, we aimed to count calories. However, we wound up making healthier choices instead. We tried to minimize portions and eat more throughout the day. We made sure to drink at least 1 liter of water a day and eliminated unnecessary sugar and salt.
While results are surely more dramatic with a stricter diet plan, we saw results with these small healthy changes.
Does Insanity Live Up To The Hype?
In this Insanity workout review, we took a look at the claims made by creator Shaun T. Plus, how the Insanity workout transforms the body. The results that we see online are encouraging but, do they really live up to the hype?
For us, we say absolutely. While it isn’t the best workout for beginners, consistent use will change the body. After 60 days, we were able to power through workouts without much trouble. Moreover, we noticed how our body adapted to tough work. The transition between months one and two tricked our muscles all over again.
While we didn’t follow a strict plan, we did make small diet changes that made all the difference. In just two months we were stronger with much more endurance to last through each workout.
It lived up to the hype for us, will it for you? Start today and find out.
